The most popular instant messengers in Russia is WhatsApp and Viber

Russian users prefer WhatsApp and Viber. These messengers have been called the most popular among subscribers of 'Beeline'.
As reported the RBC, with reference to the statistics of 'VimpelCom', to each customer of the operator has 1.7 messenger, which is equivalent to the audience at 100.8 million users. WhatsApp is used by 68.7% of clients 'Beeline' Viber – 45,7%, Skype 38.3% Telegram is 7.5%.

WhatsApp was the most popular messenger among the subscribers of 'MegaFon', it was used by 47.6%. Share Viber totaled 39.7%, Skype is 17.9%. MTS has refused to allow publication of the requested statistics.

As noted by the operators, most subscribers are aged 25 to 35 years – their share is 35%. While only 2% of clients aged 64 years and 4% of subscribers under the age of 18 used the messengers. Most of the users of instant messengers 64.8% – the owners of gadgets on Android platform. iOS accounted for 21.2%, other operating system – is 13.8%.

In 2016 the number of registered users of Viber in Russia grew by 43%. At the end of 2016 audience of the messenger averaged 78 million.

In may 2016 WhatsApp has been named the most popular messenger among the Android users. Similar Web company examined the popularity of different services to exchange messages in 187 countries and found that 109 of them, the leader WhatsApp, that is in 55.6% of cases. Among the countries where WhatsApp has won include: Russia, Brazil, India, Mexico and the UK.
