Twitter tests notifications for important news

Users have noticed that Twitter is testing notifications about important news. The latest of these was the incident at the fair in Berlin. Last month the company the same way inform the user about the death of Fidel Castro.

The alerts are sent to individual users on Twitter using the tab Moments. Sending these notifications is part of a larger initiative to inform users about current events and discussions within the platform.

Select users to send alerts is done algorithmically. To opt out of receiving this information in the settings.
