Called Twitter's most popular hashtags 2016
The microblogging service Twitter has published a list of the 10 most popular hashtag in the world by the end of 2016.
In the first place – the hashtag #Rio2016 with which users tagged tweets about the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The second position has left #Election2016 dedicated to the presidential elections in the United States. Third place in this ranking took the hashtag #PokemonGo created in honor of the eponymous mobile game, released this summer.
In the top-5 also includes the #Euro2016 #Oscars.
In positions 6-10 were ranked in the following hashtags:
- #Brexit devoted to Britain's withdrawal from the European Union;
- #BlackLivesMatter (movement for the advancement of black people);
- #Trump;
- #RIP (to be used in connection with the deaths of musicians Prince and David Bowie, and other famous personalities);
- #GameOf Thrones (a popular American TV series).
