Roskomnadzor and Mail.ru Group will develop an efficient method of searching materials about suicide

Roskomnadzor together with Mail.ru Group and relevant agencies will develop a scientific methodology for operational monitoring and identification of materials and communities focused on suicide. About it reports RNS, citing the results of the meeting of sectoral working group, chaired by the head of Department Alexander Zharov.

"The meeting participants decided to start joint development of scientific methods, which will allow us to monitor and effectively identify materials on suicide and thematic communities, including in software", — stated in the message of Roskomnadzor.

Now the main problems in the identification of suicidal content on the Internet are a large amount of materials for monitoring, communicating with metaphorical hashtag and special slang, the closed nature of suicide groups, "littered" semantic fields (expressions like "go fuck yourself", "drink poison", etc.). In the current legislation monitoring the Internet to detect illegal information not assigned to one Agency or authorized organization.

According to own data of Roskomnadzor, in General, in the register of banned sites have made more than 14 thousand "illegal materials on the topics of suicide," 43% of them are pages in Russian social networks.

Recall, the social network VK started to attract specialists of the Fund "Your area" for monitoring and blocking of profiles and communities that have a negative impact on adolescents, and also engaged in co-financing organizations. From may 2016 on the pages of the communities the social network is blocked for the justification of suicide, users see a link to the page "Your site". In addition, the VK search by key words associated with this theme is the first official community project.
