Experts Merkle noticedthat Amazon is testing accommodation product listing ads in Google AdWords for the first time since the launch of the PLA.

Amazon product ads appear in both the desktop and mobile results in Google USA:

As for topics, they are more likely to appear for queries related to products for the home. The share Amazon accounts for up to 25% of the total number of impressions.

In Merkle noted that if the Internet giant will move from testing to regular advertising in AdWords, then other (smaller) retailers may be under threat. It is unlikely they will be able to compete with the budgets of the Amazon.

Recall that last week Google was testing showing the three product ads in the top search results. Usually this section displays 4-6 PLA.

This month AdWords have also tested advanced PLA block in the right pane, and in the beginning of the year show 16 product listing ads on the SERP.
