The initiative group of the Open Internet Project (OIP) submitted to the European Commission a new complaint against Google. It argues that the company violates antitrust laws by imposing restrictions on manufacturers of Android devices.
"Again Google is abusing its dominant market position by imposing restrictions on manufacturers of Android devices and mobile network operators, trying to maintain and strengthen its leadership in Internet search," — said representatives of the Association.
In OIP includes several hundreds of European digital content providers, including major publishers like Axel Springer and Lagardère.
Press Secretary of the European Commission Ricardo Cardoso said that the complaint will be dealt with in a proper manner. Google announced that Android actually supports the competition, not harm.
In the case that the European Commission recognized the Google guilty of violating antitrust laws, the company faces a fine of 10% of annual revenue.
European Commission filed formal charges Google with violating antitrust laws when entering into agreements with manufacturers of Android-devices in April 2016.
Google provided an official response to these allegations in November of the same year.
