Google spokesperson John Mueller states — manipulation of the back button in the browser do not affect the ranking of a website. Penalties for it are not provided.
Some SEOs believe that disabling the button allows to reduce the bounce rate and increase page position in the results. As it turned out, it is not.
According to Mueller, the inability to return to the previous page in the usual way degrades the UX, and can annoy users. Therefore it is better to refuse such admission. Thus on the position of the site in Google its use is not affected.
