VK may launch a virtual network operator

Social network VK to launch a virtual network operator in mid-July. About it reports RNS, citing a statement made on a conference call with analysts CFO Mail.ru Group Matthew Hammond:

"The main startup VK MVNO may be held in the framework of VK Fest (to be held on 15 and 16 July 2017)," said Hammond, noting that this is only one of the variants of MVNO launch and it is not final.

The operator will be launched on the network of MegaFon.

Previosuly that social network VK had planned to launch its own virtual mobile operator before the end of 2016. For project realization it was planned to hire the network infrastructure of MegaFon. For a site operator registered the domain VKmobile.me.

9 Feb 2017 MegaFon announced about closing of the transaction for purchase of shares in the holding Mail.ru Group, acquired 11.5 million shares of class A and 21,94 million shares of common stock, constituting approximately 15.2% of the share capital and 63.8% of the voting shares. The total amount of the transaction amounted to $740 million.
