The former head of Google search team took a job at Uber
The former head of the team of Google search Amit Singhal appointed as senior Vice President of engineering at Uber. He will be responsible for the operation of the units of the Map and Marketplace.
Singhal resigned from Google about a year ago. The reason for the dismissal was the desire of a top Manager to do charity and devote more time to family. However, after a meeting with Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, he decided to return to IT. According to him, the proposed management of the company tasks too interesting to be abandoned.
Singhal worked at Google for 15 years. In 2001, the company awarded him the title of honorary employee for a total reworking of the ranking system.
Technology of search Amit Singhal devoted 20 years. His career he began as a scientist, then became an engineer in Google, and later led the search division of the company.
According to according to TechCrunch, Uber has hired another former top-Manager Google – Kevin Thompson, previously Vice President of advertising development for YouTube. In Uber, he was appointed to the position of Vice President of development division of the Marketplace and will report to Amit Singhal.
